My job as a golf strength and conditioning coach is to help people who play golf to move more like athletes by improving mobility, strength and power specific to the sport. Golf has been in my life since I was a very young boy playing golf up at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club. Having represented their junior team and now their men’s team in the North Northumberland League. My aim was always to have a job within the golf world. This lead me to pairing golf up with my other main hobby, the gym!
Alongside gaining this experience I have also undertaken several qualifications/certifications to enable me to be the best I can be with regards to golf strength and conditioning. Currently I’m a member of the Golf Performance Network and working towards my latest qualification with them. A particular highlight was earning my certifications with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). Having completed Level’s 1 and 2 fitness with the Titleist Performance Institute, I travelled to the America to complete the Level 3. This was an unbelievable experience learning from some of the very best in the golf fitness world.
Throughout my 9 year’s working as a personal trainer I have gained valuable experience that has helped me greatly in becoming the golf strength and conditioning coach I am today. Coaching people with disabilities for many year’s meant I had to think outside the box and be creative with my workouts and exercise choices. I people with hip/knee replacements as well as many other injuries such as back pain and shoulder pain. Golfer’s are especially susceptible to injuries such as bad backs and lead shoulder pain.
I have had the pleasure of working with golfer’s of all abilities and ages ranging from DP World Tour Player’s to the weekend warrior. I’m a results driven coach and take great pride in providing my clients with a bespoke physical assessment covering mobility, power and strength. The data we collect from assessing provides me with all the necessary information to create training programs to improve movements that directly link to the golf swing. If you’re not assessing, you’re guessing! Working together we set appropriate goals to work towards alongside regular check ups with regards to making the progress with the areas that will be the most game changing for you.
I thoroughly enjoy working with people and being a coach. I understand that everyone has a different background or life obstacles that sometimes get in the way. My aim is always to help build a plan around those obstacles to enable my clients to reach their goals.
“I've been working with Angus Smith as my personal trainer for the past 2 years, and the transformation I've experienced both physically and mentally has been nothing short of incredible. I can wholeheartedly say that Angus isn't just a personal trainer; he's a game-changer in the truest sense.
For years, I've dealt with lingering injuries that not only affected my ability to exercise but also impacted my daily life. Angus took the time to understand these issues and tailored a program specifically for me, aimed at resolving these long-standing problems. His efforts paid off; not only have those injuries been resolved, but they've also not recurred thanks to his training regimen and advice.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Angus Smith as a personal trainer. Whether you're new to the world of fitness or you're looking to take your physical health to the next level, Angus is the person to help you get there. Thank you, Angus, for not just being a fantastic trainer, but also a great friend and mentor.

“I have been with Angus for over a year recommended by one of my golfing friends as I wanted to get fitter, lose some weight and play better golf. Since I started my confidence has grown immensely and my enjoyment of exercise has never been higher. With Angus’s guidance with nutrition and lifestyle I have managed to see fat loss gains seeing my weight drop and fitting in to smaller clothes than previously. I now hit the ball much further than I ever have and my stamina has improved substantially which means I now find playing 18 holes less exhausting so I can play my best stuff until the end of my round. I’m much more active in general and look forward to exercise which is a first for me.
I have recently joined a new golf club and won my first competition which has been a massive deal for me and i could not have done it without Angus support. He is patient and understands my strengths/weaknesses and work around any niggles i might have I am doing exercises i never thought i was capable of because Angus makes me believe i can!
